Portrait background blur

Use local person segmentation to soften the background of a portrait photo.

Task tips

Use a clear portrait with the person separated from the background. The person mask is estimated at reduced resolution for browser performance. Inspect hair, hands, clothing edges and gaps. Change blur strength and process again if the result looks unnatural.

A complete workflow

Use a clear portrait, set a moderate blur and process. Compare the face, hair, shoulders and hands with the original. Lower blur strength and process again if the foreground boundary looks too harsh. Download the PNG only after reviewing the whole frame.

If the result is wrong

Hair strands, transparent fabric and gaps between arms can confuse the person mask. The mask is estimated on a reduced-resolution image, so fine boundaries are approximate. If important areas are blurred, use a better-separated source; this tool has no manual mask-refinement brush.

What the export contains

Person segmentation downloads a model when started. The result keeps the source dimensions and adds background blur; it does not cut out a transparent subject or guarantee studio-quality edges. Treat the output as a new edited copy and keep the original.
